I'd seen a video of it in action with the devices and thought that was pretty awesome. The first thing that got me thinking about getting the Novations was an article I read about Launchsync actually. When I'm a superstar dj (snigger) I'll get an Akai APC40 mk2 I lose faders but have great rotary encoders. its a compromise on tactile controls that can be extended with cheap-ish fader hardware if needed later.Integration with Ableton without another layer of complexity to manage such as scripts.Initial focus on composition as a relative newbie.I've decided to go with Push for the following reasons: I'm not trying to reinvent music or anything, just want to get back into making loop based techno gubbins, and have tactile controls for sends / volumes / general instrument and fx controls in realtime.ĮDIT: Many thanks everyone for their input. I like the Akai has faders, but boo to not so many pads, and that Push and the Akai have velocity control on pads.

The Suite and Push are nicely discounted when bought together, bringing full bundle cheaper than Suite and the other options I'm considering. I'll be purchasing Live 9 Suite with my controller. I was originally enticed by the Novations when I started researching for something tactile to wig out with Ableton as then had full range of tactile controllers, but the more I read about the other two controllers the more I doubt this will be the best route. Hey guys, after a bit of feedback, pros and cons of the above hardware controllers, and how you guys may use them. If you are looking for feedback on your own music please post it to /r/abletonfeedback/.

However, please take notice of a few rules:ĭiscussion of cracked software will be removed. Questions about synthesis, getting a certain sound with Live, troubleshooting, general or specific production questions and the like are welcome. Let’s wait what kind of VR controller support SU7 will bring, it can be an alternative for hardware buttons, but the rotary encoders in the X-Touch will be probably still more realistic and convenient compared to usage of VR controllers. Please post anything related to Live compatible hardware and software, synths, VSTs, controllers, etc. Such frames can be also created without 3D printing.ĭespite these issues I find the physical panels much better in VR compared to mouse, which is immersion killer for me.

  • the labels are stiff and due to shape and material of the buttons of the Launchpad and X-Touch Mini, they not stick perfectly.įor the Launchpad I’m now considering 3D printing a set of frames to be put around the sections of buttons (digits, letters, function keys, line select keys) as a reference for touch.
  • it is still not easy to recognize only by touch the embossed labels, so I applied the labels only to most important buttons, which act for me as touch reference points,.
  • I applied labels from Dymo embossing label maker however: The labels are very flexible and stick well to the Launchpad or X-Touch Mini buttons. Labeling for non-VR use is relatively easy, one of the options are label printers for example Brother.
